SAU 55 Office of the Superintendent of Schools HeaderHAMPSTEAD SCHOOL DISTRICT PRESS RELEASE HCS RECEIVES DONATION TO ENHANCE THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND Hampstead Central School is pleased to announce the receipt of a $10,000 donation from Ms. Katie Tuscano, former HCS paraeducator with fond memories of working with HCS staff, students and families. The Hampstead School Board accepted this generous donation at their December 11, 2018 meeting. This is the third donation from Katie Tuscano received since 2016. With the previous donations, HCS added a covered structure in the playground. The covered structure included picnic style tables with handicapped accessible seating. This project was primarily funded by the Tuscano donation with supplemental funds from the district and Hampstead Mothers Club. The Central School staff members are working on plans to use these most recent funds to continue improvement of the playground and are reviewing specific suggestion from the student council. Considerations include replacement of student swings as well as other equipment to promote fun and safe play during recess. The playground improvements are targeted for installation after the winter months have passed. There will be an all school meeting in late spring 2019 to invite Katie Tuscano back to HCS to show our gratitude and celebrate the improved playground. “On behalf of the students of Hampstead Central School, I wish to extend our gratitude for Katie’s continuous support for our school. We hope to provide an improved playground so children will have a few more reasons to enjoy recess every day.” - Dillard Collins, HCS Principal “I can attest firsthand that Hampstead is a great place to live and raise a family. The town is populated with generous and caring people like Ms. Tuscano, who instinctively put others first, setting a powerful example for the rest of us to follow.” – Dr. Earl Metzler, Superintendent December 17, 2018
